Biography
Alessio Terzi is an economist working at the intersection of academia, policy and think-tanks. He is the author of Growth for Good (Harvard University Press): a Foreign Affairs Best Book of 2022, and a Financial Times summer reading favourite.
He is currently an Assistant Professor in Public Policy at the University of Cambridge, an Adjunct Professor in Economics at Sciences Po, and an Affiliated Researcher at the Bennett Institute for Public Policy. Previously, he was an Economist at the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) of the European Commission, where he worked on competitiveness, industrial policy, and the macroeconomics of the European Green Deal. Before that, he was Affiliate Fellow at Bruegel, the leading European economics think-tank, and a Fulbright Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School.
In the past, he taught at HEC Paris and Sciences Po Lille. He also has work experience from the European Central Bank and in sovereign risk analysis from BMI Research (Fitch Ratings).
Alessio obtained a PhD from the Hertie School with a thesis on economic growth, under the supervision of Henrik Enderlein, Dani Rodrik, and Jean Pisani-Ferry. He holds an MPA in economic policy from the London School of Economics, and a BSc in international economics from Bocconi University.
His policy work and commentaries have been featured in leading media outlets including the The New York Times, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, BBC World News, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, Tagesschau, Corriere della Sera, RAI, Project Syndicate, Foreign Policy, VoxEU, Les Echos, France Culture, and Arte.
